Shae Birkey, Industry Account Manager, Caterpillar Inc. | Shae has more than 20 years of Environmental, Health, and Safety experience working in consulting, governmental, commercial, industrial, and private industry settings. His range of work experiences, from front line field positions to corporate management roles allows him to empathize and connect with employees and leaders at all levels. His current role as a Safety Adviser and Industry Account Manager with Caterpillar Safety Services allows him to bring his passion of educating and challenging customers to light. He holds a Master of Science degree with an emphasis on leadership skill development from the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign and is a Certified Safety Professional.


Dr. Daniel Synder, Owner and Founder of Safety Mentor, LLC | Dr. Snyder’s career spans 30 years of diverse global professional experience facilitating research, partnering with stakeholders, and creating sustainable solutions for effective occupational safety and health (OSH) management systems. Daniel is a board-certified safety professional and a subject matter expert on professional competencies and influencing safety culture. He holds a bachelor’s degree in science from the University of Northern Iowa, a master’s in human resource development and achieved his doctorate in Adult and Lifelong Learning from the University of Arkansas. Dr. Snyder’s research to practice consultancy informs OSH professionals about leveraging influential safety leadership through experience, education, science, and philosophy. An accomplished professional speaker and published author, his works include the SPAN Exam study workbooks the Ethics chapter in the American Society of Safety Professionals’ Consultants Business Development Guide (2015) and the National Safety Council’s Pocket Guide to Safety Essentials, 2nd Edition (2014). He serves as committee Chair for the ANSI/ASSP Z490.1 Criteria for Accepted Practices in Safety, Health, and Environmental Training Standard. He is a member of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to the ISO Technical Committee (TC)-283 for the ISO 45001, Occupational Health, and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS), international standard. A gifted facilitator, dedicated to advancing the occupational safety and health profession through consulting, mentoring, and expert services.
