
Construction drawings represent a large portion of the construction documents necessary to build any structure, which is why it is important to know how to interpret them. This class emphasizes the development of print reading skills in order to understand common and new construction techniques in building commercial projects. This course will cover the basics of reading commercial construction drawings including:
- Orthographic projection
- Types of prints - civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical
- Plan views and elevations
- Sections and details
- Material schedules
- Measuring tools and scales
- Common lines and symbols
Dates: (Four sessions) April 4, 11, 18 and 25 | 8 to 10 a.m.

About the instructor:
Dr. Caleb McCandless, Education and Training Vice President, The Builders, a chapter of the AGC, holds a master's degree in industrial management from the University of Central Missouri (UCM), where he was a professor for the construction management department. In 2023, he received his doctorate from Saint Louis University. With his experience and education, he hopes to better assist the association's members with professional development and Missouri's school system for workforce development.
