OSHA Silica Competent Person Course

OSHA Silica Competent Person Course
A key component in preventing overexposure to silica and subsequent disease is to have at least one individual on the jobsite who is capable of recognizing and evaluating situations where over exposure may be occurring; who knows how to evaluate the exposure potential; and who can make an initial recommendation on how to control that exposure. This is the role of the “Silica Competent Person.” OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1153 requires each employer to have a “Silica competent Person” who can identify existing and foreseeable respirable crystalline silica hazards. The purpose of this course is to educate course participants about OSHA’s Crystalline Silica Standard and provide an understanding of the hazards of respirable crystalline silica and appropriate ways to limit exposure. Upon successful course completion, each participant will receive a Builders’ Association Photo ID Data Card. Each scheduled course is required to have a minimum enrollment of ten (10) or more paid course participants in order for the course to be conducted. Course cancellations/confirmations will be made via email, with the designated contact person listed on the registration form a minimum of one (1) week prior to scheduled course date. Course cancellations must be made a minimum of five (5) business days prior to the scheduled course date to receive a full course refund. Register ten (10) or more participants for one (1) course and receive a 10% multiple participant discount.
