If "a picture is worth a thousand words", then photos and videos of the projects we build as we build them can tell incredible stories about the quantity and quality of our work, and the safety we're practicing along the way. Vision AI, a computer's ability to "see" and interpret photo and video from many sources, is a tool that can help us tell those stories of quality, quantity, and safety in real time.
In this presentation we'll give real-world actionable insights into what vision AI can do, cannot do, should do, and shouldn't do and how an audience of contractors and subcontractors can get started in small, incremental ways.
We'll also give an overview on industry trends on the topic of cameras and vision AI in construction and the rising requirement of insurance, finance, owners and owners reps to have literal visibility of our worksites. Vision and vision AI is coming to our worksites; how can we be proactive to get the most real value out of it and be good stewards of the people who do work?
Participants should expect to leave with a high-level overview of how vision AI works, how they can take small steps to become involved only to their comfort level, and how to have a broad conversation with industry partners who already are or who are going to start implementing more vision tools and jobsite cameras.

Adam is a subcontractor-turned-construction-technologist who became obsessed with construction safety technology after he accidentally got locked in a commercial construction project overnight while working. Adam and his team at Vendoor build digital tools at the intersection of technology and real-world jobsites.
