Heartland’s top construction projects recognized during 2024 Building Excellence Awards



Award ceremony, presented by The Builders, a chapter of the AGC, honored region’s premier construction projects and initiatives during live event in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 7, 2024 – The new Kansas City International Airport project took center stage during the 2024 Building Excellence Awards on June 6, 2024, at The Bardot in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. During the live ceremony, the project won in three of the 12 award categories.

Clark | Weitz | Clarkson’s joint venture won Project of the Year by a General Contractor (Over $100 Million) for the new terminal; PCI (Performance Contracting, Inc.) won Project of the Year by a Subcontractor (Under $1 Million) for the Delta Sky Club at the new terminal; and E&K of Kansas City, Inc. won Project of the Year by a Subcontractor (Over $5 Million) for their work on the new terminal. Additionally, JE Dunn Construction Company was recognized as a Project of the Year finalist for the new terminal parking garage.

The biennial awards event recognizes outstanding companies in The Builders, a chapter of the AGC for their efforts in diversity, innovation, community impact and construction projects demonstrating the pinnacles of excellence.

Nominations for the Building Excellence Awards opened early in 2024, and submissions were received from firms throughout the Heartland region. A panel of impartial judges deliberated to determine the finalists and winners for each of the 12 categories recognized during the program.

The winners were announced live during the Building Excellence Awards ceremony, which was emceed by Kansas City media personality Toni Talley. A complete list of winners and finalists for each category follows, and a special summer edition of Modern Builder, the magazine published by The Builders, will feature more detailed spotlights of the projects and initiatives.
